Tushar grew up in Kelowna and is thrilled to be attending medical school in his hometown community. He is a 2nd year Southern Medical Program (SMP) student and is serving his first term as SMP Site Lead. In this position, Tushar represents the interests of SMP students, faculty, and community stakeholders. He provides support to the SMP Site Class Councils and acts as the primary liaison between MUS and Class Councils. Additional responsibilities also include fair allocation of SMP finances, advocacy for site-specific initiatives, and promotion of inclusivity and connectivity among the SMP cohorts. Outside of medicine, Tushar enjoys basketball, photography, exploring the hiking trails of BC, and spending time with his friends and family.

My name is Karen (she/her/hers) and I am honoured to serve as the Year 1 Class President for the Class of 2025! I'm originally from Toronto and just moved to Vancouver to start my MD journey. I'm looking forward to meeting and working with my fellow classmates, MUS, faculty, etc. to represent the needs of our class and serve as a student voice. I hope to increase mentorship opportunities for Y1 students and promote inter-class relationships between the 4 years. Outside academics, I enjoy travelling, trying new foods, reading (huge Harry Potter nerd), spending time with friends and family, and being outdoors. Hi everyone! My name is Chris, and I am looking forward to getting to know and work with you as Year 4 Class President! Some of my favourite parts of being a student rep are community building, advocating for our needs, and collaborating with fellow students and the faculty. Medical education has rapidly adapted to the pandemic, and I have had the great privilege of sitting alongside the other reps on the COVID-19 Task Force. I also really enjoyed working with my colleagues on OUTreach, which is a mentorship initiative connecting queer medical students with physician mentors. My name is Krysta, and I am Métis, and a citizen of the Manitoba Métis Federation with ties to the Red River Settlement in Manitoba. I am grateful to have grown, learned, worked, and \nlived as a guest on the beautiful unceded and traditional lands of the Lekwungen and WSÁNEĆ peoples. Growing up with Métis and mixed European ancestry, I am passionate to use the significant privilege that I do have to promote Indigenous health, wellness, and cultural safety. I plan to advocate for anti-racism in the health care system, and hope to use my role as IMP Indigenous Health Representative Jr to connect with other Indigenous Health Representatives and students, and create opportunities for all to engage with the topic of Indigenous health and wellness, and ultimately help shift towards a safe and welcoming space for Indigenous communities in health care.

My name is Alix and I am the NMP Indigenous Health Representative Jr. My passion for Indigenous health arose as a mixture of growing up in Prince George, having the opportunity to volunteer at Central Interior Native Health Society (CINHS), and working at Carrier Sekani Family Services (CSFS) in Prince George. In this new role I want to highlight the importance of cultural competency training for all medical students, as well as increase access to peer-mentorship programs for Indigenous youth interested in careers in medicine. As an individual from a non-Indigenous background, in this role as an ally, I am excited and eager to learn from Indigenous classmates and community members. As future health care providers I believe we all have a responsibility to provide culturally safe care.
